Homemade Lasagna

This classic lasagna recipe combines layers of rich meat sauce, creamy ricotta, and melted mozzarella for a hearty and delicious meal. With a savory blend of ground beef and pork, aromatic onions and garlic, and a touch of Italian herbs, this dish is perfect for any occasion.
INGREDIENTS
1lbs ground beef
1lbs ground pork
24oz marinara sauce
9oz oven-ready lasagna noodles
16oz ricotta cheese
8 oz mozzarella (sliced)
2 oz mozzarella (shredded)
1 cup parmesan cheese (shredded)
1 egg
1/2 yellow onion (diced)
4 cloves garlic (minced)
1 bunch fresh parsley
1 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
Salt & pepper (to taste)
DIRECTIONS
STEP 1
Preheat oven to 350°F.
STEP 2
In a large pan, sauté the diced onions and minced garlic until fragrant, about 3-5 minutes. Add in the ground beef and pork and cook until the meat is browned (5-8 minutes).
STEP 3
Add the marinara sauce, 1 tsp Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper into the pan and stir to combine with the meat mixture. Simmer for 3-5 minutes, turn off the heat, and set aside for Step 5.
STEP 4
In a small bowl, combine the following ingredients: ricotta, egg, 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning, 2 tsp fresh chopped parsley, salt, & pepper. Set aside for Step 5.
STEP 5
Spray a large baking dish with non-stick spray or butter. Spread 1 3/4 cup of the meat sauce at the bottom of the dish.
STEP 6
Assemble the rest of the lasagna in layers in the following order: 1) 5-6 lasagna noodles, 2) 1 cup ricotta mixture, 3) 1 3/4 meat sauce, 4) 5-6 slices of mozzarella, 5) 1/3 cup shredded parmesan cheese. Repeat until the dish is full - about 2-3 layers depending on the pan's depth. Top the lasagna with the shredded mozzarella and a handful of parmesan.
STEP 7
Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in the oven for 30 minutes. Remove from oven, remove the foil, and return to the oven for 30 minutes.
STEP 8
Remove the lasagna from the oven and let it rest for 10+ minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley and enjoy alongside a Caesar salad or your favorite Italian side dish.
